Tim Stoner was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was raised in Chile, South America where his parents served as missionaries. He spent his teen years in Spain. He graduated from Cedarville University with a degree in Theology, minors in philosophy and Greek. He worked as a youth pastor in Spain then attended Grand Rapids Theological Seminary studying for a Masters of Divinity. He then studied law at Thomas E. Cooley, earning a Juris Doctor in 1987. Tim worked as bilingual, staff attorney with Michigan Migrant Legal Services and then as research attorney for the Michigan Court of Appeals. Since 1993 he has been in private practice specializing in estates and trusts. In 2006 Tim helped found Orphan Justice Mission, a non-profit organization committed to caring for orphans by providing them with hope for a productive future. Currently, the ministry is helping a church in Uganda care for over 450 children most of whom are AIDS orphans. In 1997 Tim published The Paladins, a fantasy, spiritual/warfare allegory. The God Who Smokes, his first non-fiction book, was published by NavPress and released on February 15, 2007. He is at work on a book about Jesus which asks, What’s a nice Jewish boy like you doing on a cross like that? Tim has been married to Patty Grace Stoner for 27 years. They have five children, their youngest was adopted from Mozambique, Africa. They all live in Grand Rapids.
